Race Day Activities

The Old Cabin Classic isn’t just for racers. We are planning a fun day for the whole family. Come on out for a knee slapping good time.

Local Artisans

The Old Cabin Classic is not just a showcase for mountain biking, we are inviting local artists out to show their wares as well. Check out neat stuff from custom bike bags to woodcuts, a portion of all purchases will go towards MBOSC’s trail building fund! If you would like to sell your goods please email sponsors@mbosc.org!

Complimentary Beverages from Verve Coffee Roasters

Verve Coffee Roasters is a mainstay of the Santa Cruz cafe scene. They are also longtime supporters of Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz. They have been fueling our events for years now, from the Mountain Bike Festival to our Volunteer Dig Days. So of course they jumped at the opportunity to come out to the Old Cabin Classic. They will be serving coffee and fancy drinks all day! For free! Get buzzed!

Vintage Bike Museum

We are channeling racing of years past with this event. There has not been a race at Wilder Ranch in nigh on twenty years. To give a nod to those that have come before we will be displaying some notable vintage bikes. On display will be bikes from local frame builders, local bike companies, and local characters. If you have a bike you would like to display, let us know! Email info@mbosc.org

Kids’ Rodeo

Introduce your kids to mountain biking or encourage them to improve their skills. Bring a bike, sign a waiver, strap a helmet on them, and watch them try their skills and tackle obstacles in a challenging but safe environment. This is a great confidence builder!

The Kids’ Rodeo will be run by Trips for Kids Santa Cruz, a volunteer non-profit which provides positive outdoor experiences for at-risk kids through mountain biking. A special thank you to Monterey Off Road Cycling Association (MORCA) for the use of their bike skills obstacle course.

We are excited to offer primitive camping at the event. While the accommodations are rustic, the panoramic ocean views are second to none. A limited number of spaces are available during registration.

Beer Garden

Come out and enjoy a cold beverage and know that every time you drink one, you are helping to build more trails in Santa Cruz County. Spectators will receive a beer in exchange for each $5 donation to MBoSC’s trail building funds. Our friends at New Bohemia Brewing Co are donating beer for the race! They are even brewing an Old Cabin IPA specifically for this event! Yum! Racers and volunteers can enjoy a couple of beers gratis.

Tasty Food

We are bringing more food options to the Old Cabin Classic this year If you’ve been to any of MBOSC’s events, you know we take food almost as seriously as singletrack and beer. Racers and volunteers all get a plate on us, and food will be on sale to spectators. And of course there will be vegetarian options.
